A little while ago I wrote this article covering all the best mods for Rockstar Games’ GTA V. In this one, we’ll be going over some of the best GTA IV car pack mods you can find online.
The point of this article is to compile and bunch up all of the most popular car mods in one place so that you don’t have to browse through various forums and sites to find them. I’ll include a link for each mod so that you can easily download it.
Installation is pretty straightforward as most of the mods have instructions that go along with them. A lot of these mods are ‘self-installing’, meaning it’s literally a one-click install. Those that don’t have detailed installation instructions you can easily follow. This article covers 22 different GTA IV car pack mods, but here are some I think do stand out:

GTA IV Car Pack: Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4
Let’s be honest, this list was always going to kick things off with a Lamborghini, wasn’t it? If you had to have just one mod in the game, you’d surely go for the crazy-looking V12 Aventador.
Created by Turn 10 Studios and inspired by the Forza Motorsport 4 model (which they used to shape this car), this is a stunning recreation of the real thing. I’ve seen plenty of Lamborghini models acting as a GTA IV car pack out there, but this is without a doubt one of the best.
The fact that it’s got over 40,000 downloads tells you everything you need to know about it. The mod replaces the standard Infernus. You can find it here.
Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 150
If you want a large luxury 4×4 for GTA IV, look no further than this ultra-realistic Toyota Land Cruiser. Created by Denus, you can tell by the model it’s been painstakingly molded to be as accurate to real life as humanly possible.
Everything on the mod works, including the crash mechanic, meaning the doors open and you can have rumpled body panels or broken parts. It’s great if you want to role-play and use a realistic driving mod in conjunction with it.
It replaces the Landstalker in the game and you can download this mod here.
GTA IV Car Pack: Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
Are you a big fan of muscle cars and want to see one of the most iconic muscle cars of all time in GTA IV? This mod is ideal for you then, because it replaces the stock Dukes with a V8-engined Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
It comes with all the bells and whistles, meaning it’s been properly designed to work just as the stock Rockstar cars do. It has opening doors and working crash mechanics, is the correct size relative to the real thing (the scale is right), and it comes with realistic management.
They’ve even made Niko’s hands appear on the steering wheel just as they would on any other car the game comes with. It’s been developed by Turn 10 Studios using a Forza Motorsport 4 model, so it goes without saying that the model is exceptional.

Ultimate Vehicle Pack V11
If you want a single, all-encompassing mod, without having to download individual GTA IV car pack mods, then here it is. This is a car pack that will save you modding time and gets you straight into the game.
This mod will replace every regular car in Liberty City with an accurate, high-quality version of the realistic car that Rockstar would have used in the game had there not been any copyright regulations.
This mod doesn’t touch the supercars, so you’re free to mod them as you wish. The whole point of this mod is to make the game as realistic as possible by making regular traffic appear similar to real life.
It’s got a very high rating of 8 stars out of 10, and it’s been downloaded on GTA Gaming’s website over 43,000 times. You can check it out here.
GTA IV Car Pack: Realistic Car Pack v4
Like the Ultimate Vehicle Pack highlighted above, the Realistic Car Pack comes with several different car mods all wrapped in one single file. The difference is that the realistic pack replaces most of the sportscars as well, including a few bikes, in addition to adding entirely new vehicles.
It is, by some margin, one of the most popular mods ever invented as a GTA IV car pack. It has over 624,000 downloads on GTA Gaming’s website alone, and with individual sharing, I’m sure it’s gotten well over a million downloads by now.
Cars include but are not limited to a Porsche 918 Spyder, a Toyota Supra, a Ferrari F50, a Porsche Carrera GT, the iconic ‘Eleanor’ Shelby Mustang GT500, and much more.

Ferrari LaFerrari
This GTA IV car pack mod adds the most powerful and ridiculous car Ferrari has ever made to your game files. Installation is quick and easy, but taming this powerful beast requires a bit of skill and some practice.
The guys who developed it used an Assetto Corsa model which is one of the most accurate models of the LaFerrari taken so far. Kunos Simulazioni, the company that developed Assetto, used a 3D scanner on a real-life Ferrari, thus creating the ultimate virtual portrayal of Maranello’s hybrid supercar.
When converting it for GTA IV, they’ve even gone as far as to make the interior realistic and add shadow and dirt textures. It replaces the in-game Turismo standard model.

GTA IV Car Pack: Mazda RX-7 Veilside
If you’re a big fan of the Fast and Furious franchise, and ‘Tokyo Drift’ in particular, then you’re going to love this GTA IV car pack. Using a model from Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed, they’ve been able to recreate one of the most legendary movie cars for the game.
Powered by a rotary ‘Wankel’ engine producing a ridiculous amount of power, this RX-7 sound as crazy as it looks. The body kit has been specially developed for the RX-7 by a company called Veilside, but they also produce other kits for cars like the Mazda RX-8.

Realistic Driving And Flying
This is one of my personal favorite mods simply because of how accurate and life-like it is. As a massive fan of racing simulations and simulations in general, I love that this mod takes an arcade-ish game like GTA IV and completely transforms it into something it was never meant to be.
Yes, the cars will behave differently and they won’t go as quick or corner as hard as before, but it adds a level of realism that was previously missing from the game. If you’re not just worried about good-looking cars but value realism as well, you have to get this mod.
Killautomate, the creator of this mod, went through each of the 170 default cars and modified their handling data to create this masterpiece. The only downside is that this mod won’t work in conjunction with other individual car mods that use their own handling data, as it will overwrite the mod’s files.

GTA IV Car Pack: Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Body Kit
Fans of supercars and hypercars should be absolutely thrilled about this one. Created by imtaj, this GTA IV car pack mod is based on models from NFS: Shift 2, but it’s been extensively reworked to fit GTA IV.
Instead of just using a stock Veyron though, imtaj decided to further enhance the mod by giving it a wide body kit and a massive rear wing the Veyron never came with. The attention to detail is superb and I can’t get enough of the crazy color schemes he’s been able to come up with.
It’s also got custom handling, extremely realistic damage with ‘crashable’ body panels, and fully functioning lights and doors. You can find it here.
Pagani Zonda R
If you ask me what my personal favorite race car is of all time, I’d have to answer the Pagani Zonda R. Built as an exclusive track-day weapon, the Zonda R was created with one goal and one goal only: demolish the Nordschleife track record.
When it first came out in 2007, demolish the track record it did, with an astonishing time of 6 minutes and 47 seconds. It was a record that stood for many years.
This particular mod has been developed by NatT96Report. It’s an excellent mod not because the model is perfect (although it’s good), but because driving a Zonda R in the game is the closest we’ll ever get to experience it.

GTA IV Car Pack: Rolls-Royce Phantom Convertible
If you want to travel in luxury and style, it doesn’t get much better than a Rolls-Royce. You can forget about Lamborghinis or Ferraris, because of sheer presence, nothing beats a Rolls-Royce.
This convertible Phantom is one of the rarest cars in real life, not only because it’s so expensive, but because each one is hand-made by skilled workers at Rolls-Royce who’ve spent years perfecting their craft.
Unless you’re a wealthy billionaire, the closest we’ll ever get to driving one of these luxury yachts on wheels is through GTA IV. This mod replaces the default Washington car in the game. It has over 18,000 downloads.

BMW M8 Competition
BMW’s latest luxury GT car is also one of the most powerful cars they’ve ever built with over 600 horsepower on tap. It’s not an outright sportscar designed to shatter any track records, but a big, comfy GT cruiser, built to munch the miles without breaking a sweat.
I’ve tried this mod out in the game, and I found it to be really enjoyable to drive. It’s easy to steer and maneuver, but it can also be quick and fast when you want it to. It’s an accurate portrayal of the real thing then.
It comes with HD car textures, correct LOD, and functioning front and rear lights. It replaces the default Stratum car.

GTA IV Car Pack: NYC Mega Car Pack
If you live in New York or simply want to experience what it’s like to be in ‘The Big Apple’, this GTA IV car pack mod is ideal. It aims to make Liberty City look like NYC back in 2010 by replacing most of the default cars with cars you’d typically find in NYC.
To that extent, it features a Harley Davidson Fatboy, golf carts, a Maserati Quattroporte, and even regular cars like a Mazda 3 to make it realistic. The best part? It replaces law enforcement cars with accurate portrayals of the real things, including an FBI Ford Crown Vic.

Liberty F1 2010
This is one of the craziest mods you can download for GTA IV, but it’s also one of the best, especially if you’re a fan of F1 or motorsports in general. It adds 24 Formula 1 cars to the game and gives you an opportunity to live out your wildest fantasies.
The models are accurate portrayals of F1 cars during the 2010 season, meaning they all get a high-revving V8 making intoxicating noises and are bonkers quick.
It’s currently got just under 30,000 downloads on GTA Garage, but if you ask me, it should have a million because it’s that good.

GTA IV Car Pack: The Essential Car Pack
One of the reasons why cars in GTA 5 look so much better than those in GTA IV is because the games use different engines. The one GTA IV uses is a little bit more basic, so you’re not able to get away with as much stuff as you are in the newer one.
That being said, a lot of the mods I highlighted so far feature hi-poly models to add to make them look more realistic, but that has its own downside. More polygons mean you need more computing power to deal with them, and when you’ve got dozens of mods all running at the same time, even decent PCs can easily get overwhelmed.
The Essential Pack is a mod with hand-picked cars which give you high quality without sacrificing performance in the process. It’s the pack you should download if you don’t have the most powerful computer but still want to enjoy the GTA IV modding community.

Audi RS5
The RS5 is one of the wildest cars to ever come out of Ingolstadt. Created by the mad boffins over at Audi ‘RS’, it’s actually built and put together by Audi’s ‘Quattro GmbH’ division. It’s the same people who build cars like the RS6 and the R8.
The RS5 was the first ‘RS’ coupe Audi had ever built. As such, it features a naturally-aspirated, high-revving V8 under the hood, producing an almighty 450 horsepower.
This mod features customized optics, breakable windows, tuned collision, and tweaked handling files. It replaces the default Comet model but using the automatic installer you can choose to replace any other car you want.

GTA IV Car Pack: Hummer H2
The Hummer isn’t as popular nowadays as it used to be back in the day due to global warming and such, but when the game was first introduced, this was one of the most popular mods out there.
Absolutely everyone wanted to have a Hummer in their drive yard, but it was an expensive vehicle that used a lot of fuel and it cost a lot of money to maintain. Luckily, the in-game version is none of those things, so you’re free to enjoy it as much as you want.
This particular model was converted from Full Drive 2 by a guy using the moniker ‘Stiopa’, and I have to say he did a great job. The attention to detail is amazing, especially on the exterior which looks fantastic.
It has nearly 130,000 downloads, which kind of says it all really. You can find this mod here.
Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R
Because of ridiculous import laws, the R34 GT-R is the one car that isn’t available for import in the United States. Even if it were, prices have skyrocketed so much over the last few years that owning a Skyline is no longer possible for most people.
Even base GT-T versions cost a ton of money, let alone the flagship GT-R variants. Fortunately, the game has no limitations on how you can acquire a GT-R, so you can either buy it or steal it from one of the NPCs.
This mod has the correct optics work, bespoke wheels, functional doors and lights, and the right LOD. It replaces the Hakumai default car, but you can choose which car you want to replace using GTA All’s automatic downloader.

GTA IV Car Pack: Speedometer IV
The name of the mod says it all, but let me break it down because it’s got a lot more features than you might think it does. As you can probably guess, this is a GTA IV car pack mod that introduces a speedometer to accurately measure speed.
It comes with several different speedometer designs so you can match and choose whichever one you think looks best or switch them out based on what you plan to be driving.
I like the minimalist ones, but you can get as funky as you want as there are some seriously weird designs included.
The placement in the bottom right corner is unobtrusive and you get used to it almost immediately. After a while, driving without this mod will even start to feel weird.
There’s a hotkey to turn the speedometer on and off just in case you want to check something out in the lower right corner (you can do this by pressing F12 by default).

Standard Machines
This is a really simple mod and one which isn’t technically a mod, but people have requested it so often that it’s now one of the most downloaded ones weirdly.
This is just a collection of all the default models and the stock handling data, acting as a reset button for the game in case you want to revert back to the vanilla cars or have encountered some massive error that is causing your game to crash.
Believe me when I say this, but re-installing the game over and over again just because you want a fresh start or made a mess of the modding files is not fun. Sometimes you just want to hit the reset button on all the stock cars and go back to normal, which is what this mod enables you.

GTA IV Car Pack: Mercedes-Benz G500
Last but by no means least, I’ve decided to conclude this list with one of the most unusual-looking cars of all time: the Mercedes G-Wagon. Built and designed in the 1970s, it’s a car that has changed very little throughout the years.
Described as a brick-shaped box on wheels, the G-Wagon has the grace of the Hulk trying to dance ballet. It’s the automotive equivalent of placing pineapple on a pizza: it splits opinions down the middle.
Some people think it’s obnoxious and brash, but most seem to love it. The G-Wagon is great off-road but terrible on pavement, so it’s not exceptionally nice to drive either. What it is though, is a statement. It’s a car that has so much character and charisma that most other SUVs can’t even be compared to it.
Developed by The-RiPPer, this mod is one of my favorites exactly because it’s pointless and so ridiculous. It replaces the default Cavalcade car.

How To Install GTA 4 Mods
To install GTA IV mods, you’ll first have to download the Xlive Less tool. All you need to do is to unpack the XLive Less installation folder into the GTA 4 main game folder. From then on, you can start using this tool to replace in-game text files with modded ones. For instance, the handling.dat file contains data on how cars handle in the game. Or, how visualsettings.dat contains information like the in-game weather. To mod GTA 4, you’ll have to download and install the mods by replacing these text files. Meanwhile, to install texture-based mods, you’ll have to download tools like Open IV and SparkIV. Both of which essentially edit the in-game GTA 4 archives to replace and embed those new textures.
How To Install Car Mods In GTA 4
To install a GTA IV car pack, you’ll have to download the SparkIV modding tool. Start the program, click on Open, and choose the .img file of the vehicle mod that you’ve just downloaded. Click on Import, and then click on the WFT and WDT files of the vehicle mod in question to replace the in-game files with the new ones. Remember, you can’t add a new car in GTA IV through modding, but only to replace existing ones. Then, click on Rebuild in SparkIV, and hit the Save button. Before you start the game, have a read of the included installation instructions of the vehicle mod that you picked. It may be necessary to also modify some lines in the carcols.dat and handling.dat text files. These will alter other aspects of a vehicle, such as its color options, handling, performance, and so on.
Can You Customize Cars In GTA 4
Unlike its predecessor, GTA San Andreas, or its successor, GTA 5, there’s no in-game vehicle customization in GTA 4. The best that you can do is head over to a Pay and Spray, and have your car’s colors resprayed. However, even in this scenario, you don’t have any options to choose what paint options you want. The other option is to find cars in the game that have already been pre-modified or pre-customized. Although, these cars usually only appear in specific missions or other important events throughout the game. This is rather disappointing, as other GTA games like San Andreas and GTA 5 have extensive in-game car customization. If you really want to, there are mods like GTA IV car packs that you can install to forcefully change a car’s appearance or add more visual options.
How To Save A Car In GTA 4
In most Grand Theft Auto games, you can save cars by driving into a garage by the player’s home. This would automatically make the car available again just by driving it out of the garage. This is a bit different in GTA IV’s case, however. Some homes or safe houses in the game have garages that you can park your car in to save it. Meanwhile, there are other in-game houses that don’t have garages. In this instance, there’s usually a defined, reserved parking space at the front of the building. Just find a parking spot with yellow lines around it, and park your car within this space to save it. This usually appears on the side of the road. Once your car is parked in this space, it’ll appear there again when you return.
Where To Find A Lamborghini In GTA 4
In GTA 4, there’s a Lamborghini-like car called the Infernus, which is modeled after the Murcielago. Although, the Infernus is pretty hard to find and rarely appears in the game. To get one, you’ll have to complete Bernie’s storyline and missions in the game. In one mission, he’ll gift an Infernus to you once you complete it. Another way to get one is by completing races hosted by Bernie in the game. In these side-missions, it’s possible to win an Infernus if you win, as Bernie will gift you another Infernus. You might also be able to find an Infernus near the home where Dimitri’s and Faustin’s missions can be found. Typically, it would spawn on the right-hand side of the house. Being GTA, driving an Infernus should start spawning numerous examples on the road.
