The New Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio

Yes, a new Alfa Romeo: the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio – easy for you to say! Alfa Romeo fans have been waiting a long time for the release of such a car.

Translated as the ‘four-leaf clover’ – to help us with pronunciation – the Alfa Romeo (GQ) is a long awaited production from the Italian makers competing with the likes of the BMW M3. The four-leaf clover is there to continue Alfa Romeo’s history of good luck.

Like a Ferrari?

With a 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds, speed comes from the 2.9 litre V6 twin-turbo engine, comparable with the V8s of new Ferraris. In fact, Ferrari has been involved with the GQ chassis and engine development. Its 8-speed auto ‘box is said to be slightly lethargic as it progresses in speed.

With elements of Michael Knight’s KITT, the GQ includes the DNA Pro drive mode selector: Dynamic, Natural, then to the more exciting, Advanced Efficiency, and Race. It even has a bumpy road button (like the Ferrari), suitable for the pot-holed British roads.

“Higher Design Approach”

The interior of the GQ is spacious, includes sports seats, and has adequate leg and head room for the tallest of drivers. As with several reviews of the technology which features in a variety of new cars, the infotainment display is criticised for the size of its screen.

Alfa Romeo say:

It [the GQ] represents a convergence of engineering and emotion that can only belong to a brand as fabled as Alfa Romeo.

The All-New Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is the ultimate product of this higher design approach.

Self-Drives: a Thing of the Past

With news of the increasing popularity in the anticipation of self-drive cars, Alfa Romeo give drivers this – perhaps fading – chance to build the freedom of a driver/vehicle relationship and bond. With cars such as these, self-drives will be a thing of the past rather than of the future.
