Knockout Car: Henry Cooper’s Ferrari For Sale

Now I am far from an expert when it comes to boxing, all I know is that takes place in a ring which is actually square. I’m sure there’s a good reason for that and if there is I do not know. However, I do know how big Sir Henry Cooper OBE is in the boxing community, he is after all, the man that defeated Muhammad Ali and also for his mean left hook.

Sorry, Where Is This Going?

Why are we talking about a boxer on a motoring site? Good question. Well, a 1973 Ferrari 365 GT which once belonged to him is to be auctioned by COYS later this month. The 365 GT was owned by Cooper in the 1980s and is one of only 55 right hand models produced. Under the bonnet sits a 4.4 litre V12 engine which produces 400bhp making it the most powerful four seater at the time of its production.

It’s A Knockout

0-60mph comes in a knockout 5.4 seconds and the 365 GT will hit a top speed of 165mph. This Italian supercar was taken to Cooper’s old stomping ground in South London where the locals took pictures and shared storied about the legendary ‘Enry Cooper. The car comes with a V5 certificate that proves Cooper’s ownership and the car itself is valued at £55,000-£70,000, which also includes a pair of boxing gloves signed by the man himself.

Chris Routledge, CEO of Coys, said: “He loved his cars, was a great motorsport enthusiast and at one point even did some club racing alongside his great friend Graham Hill. Known as Enry’s Ferrari by various marque specialists, the provenance of this car makes it a sound investment and could be the ideal Christmas treat for discerning collectors.”
